Erik Peterson | Violin

Violinist Erik Peterson enjoys sharing great music with broad and diverse audiences. Erik reaches thousands of chamber music devotees and novices throughout the United States and Europe performing with Mendelssohn Trio, Ivy Street Ensemble, Candlelight Concerts and Front Range Chamber Players. As Artistic Director of Front Range Chamber Players, he engages in imaginative, diverse, and innovative programming. 

Erik has collaborated with composers such as Obo Addy, Ofer Ben-Amots, Jacob Avshalomov, Kenji Bunch, David Crumb, Maria Grenfell, David Mullikin, and Loretta Notareschi in bringing new and invigorating works into the classical repertoire. He also collaborates with universities, schools, retirement homes, and other organizations to engage students and adults in the art of chamber music. 

Sharing the art of violin performance and pedagogy is a driving force for Erik. He enjoys working with talented students at prestigious institutions such as University of Denver, Colorado State University, Lamont Summer Academy, Denver Young Artists Orchestra, and Denver School of the Arts while maintaining a private teaching studio. Many of his students succeed in national competitions, attend prestigious summer festivals, and are accepted to renowned collegiate music schools and conservatories. 

Erik has performed in the great concert halls of Europe on numerous international tours with Mendelssohn Trio and as Principal Second Violinist of The American Sinfonietta. He travelled to South America in June, 2025 for a tour of Brazil with the Front Range Piano Quartet. He has served as Concertmaster of Great Falls Symphony, Up Close and Musical, and Opera Steamboat. Currently Erik is Concertmaster of Canto Deo and the Metropolitan Choral Festival Orchestra. Following 28 years as a violinist in the Colorado Symphony, Erik pivoted to focus on chamber music performance and teaching. His performances are often heard on National Public Radio and online at his YouTube channel, EarWarp Chamber Music. 

When not performing, teaching, or creating concert opportunities for audiences of all ages, Erik enjoys spending time with his family, skiing and hiking.

Barbara Thiem | Cello

Barbara Thiem is an internationally acclaimed cellist who combines teaching cello and coaching chamber music with her active schedule of solo, concerto, and chamber music performances in Europe and the United States. Her prolific performance schedule includes 20-30 concerts each year across Europe, the U.S., Canada, and South America, including many guest artist appearances at the International Draeseke Conference in Coburg, Germany.

In addition to concertizing, Thiem has recorded for many radio stations and has produced several CDs, among them a set of Bach Suites for solo cello, Complete Works for Cello and Piano by Felix Draeseke with pianist Wolfgang Mueller-Steinbach, Works for Cello and Organ with organist Robert Cavarra, and cello/bass duets with Gary Karr. She has published translations of Gerhard Mantel's Cello Technique, and Ernst Mendelssohn Bartholdy’s From New York to San Francisco, both from Indiana University Press, as well as a number of articles on good postural and practicing habits, which appeared in the American String Teacher Association Journal and the American Suzuki Journal.

As an active clinician, lecturer, and adjudicator, Thiem has been a guest at the Encontro Orquestra de Cordas da UnB in Brazil, the Pan American Cello Festival in Texas, at prominent national association conferences, including the Music Teachers National Association, the American Musicological Society, and the American String Teachers Association, and at state music teacher’s conferences and contests.

Barbara taught and performed within the School of Music, Theater and Dance at Colorado State University until Spring 2022 where she taught cello and chamber music, leads a three-semester course in cello pedagogy, and teaches in the Pre-College Chamber Music Program. The Mendelssohn Trio is in residence at the University, and Thiem has also participated in research within CSU’s renowned music therapy area. Previous teaching appointments include the University of Wyoming, Indiana University, Lamont School of Music, University of Colorado, University of Texas, and Iowa State University. She has often administered the International Summer Academy of Schloss Ort, Austria.

Thiem holds an M.M. in cello performance from Indiana University where she was assistant to Janos Starker and was awarded the coveted Performer’s Certificate, as well as degrees from Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Germany where she studied with avant-garde cellist Siegfried Palm.

She is a ‘Best Teacher’ award-winner at Colorado State University, and a ‘Teacher of the Year,’ nominee for the College of Liberal Arts.

Bryan Wallick | Piano

Bryan Wallick is gaining recognition as one of the great American virtuoso pianists of his generation. Gold medalist of the 1997 Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kiev, he has performed throughout the United States, Europe, and Africa.

Mr. Wallick made his New York recital debut in 1998 at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall and his Wigmore Hall recital debut in London in 2003. He has also performed at London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall with the London Sinfonietta, the St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church and recently made his debut at London's new Bechstein Hall in March 2025. 

In recent seasons, Mr. Wallick has performed with many orchestras in both the US and Africa. His recitals have been heard in many places in Europe and the US. In March 2002, Mr. Wallick played two solo performances at Ledreborg Palace for HRH Princess Marie Gabrielle Luxembourg, and HRH Prince Philip Bourbon de Parme. 

Bryan Wallick is an avid chamber musician and has performed with violinists Nikita Boriso-Glebsky, Rachel Lee Priday, Yi-Jia Susanne Hou, Miriam Contzen, Sergei Malov, and cellists Zuill Bailey, Alexander Buzlov, Alexander Ramm, and Wolfgang Emmanuel Schmidt. He is a member of the Mendelssohn Trio which is in residence at Colorado State University and will be performing a European tour in May 2026 visiting Switzerland, Austria and Germany. 

In 2015 he became Artistic Director of Schalk Visser Concert Promotions which hosts many international musicians who perform concert tours throughout South Africa. During the COVID-19 period he recorded the Beethoven Triple Concerto op. 56 (Trio Version) with violinist Frank Stadler (Austria) and Peter Martens (South Africa) in an inter-continental virtual collaboration across three continents which won the KykNet Fiesta Award for Best Achievement in Classical Music for South Africa 2020. Mr. Wallick is also actively involved in organizing the International Keyboard Odyssiad and Summer Festival (IKOF) in Colorado where he regularly performs, lectures and teaches, and is a faculty member for the Rocky Ridge Summer Festival in Estes Park, Colorado. 

He recorded his first album for Navona Records Virtuosic Fugue (Vol. 1) in July 2023 and will release his second album of Franz Liszt's Piano Music in Spring 2026. Mr. Wallick made chamber appearances with cellist Zuill Bailey for Chamber Music Detroit, the Library of Congress, Classics and Jazz at Juneau, International Keyboard Odyssiad and Festival, performed with violinist Rachel Lee Priday at the University of Washington and Colorado State's Classical Convergence series, and also performed at the Chintimini Summer Music Festival in Oregon. 

He was given a grant in 2006 by the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts to explore his synesthetic realities in a multimedia project that allows the audience to see the colors he experiences while performing. Synesthesia is the ability to experience two or more sensory sensations with one stimulus. Bryan Wallick sees colors with each musical pitch and has created a computer program that projects images of his colored visions to the audience. 

Mr. Wallick studied with Jerome Lowenthal in New York City where he was the first Juilliard School graduate to receive both an undergraduate Honors Diploma (2000) and an

accelerated master's Degree (2001). He continued his studies with Christopher Elton in London at the Royal Academy of Music where he was the recipient of the Associated Board International Scholarship, receiving a Post-graduate Diploma with Distinction. He previously studied with Eugene and Elisabeth Pridonoff from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music. Mr. Wallick has recently been appointed as Associate Professor of Piano at Colorado State University where he lives with his wife and three children. Barbara Thiem ist international aktiv als Cello- und Kammermusik Professorin und einem vielfältigen Programm von Solo-, Orchesterkonzert- und Kammermusikauftritten in Europa und den USA. 20-30 Konzerte jährlich bringen sie ausser Europa und den USA auch nach Kanada und Südamerika mit mehreren Gastspielen bei den Internationalen Draeseke Tagen in Coburg, Deutschland.

Zusätzlich zu Konzerten hat Frau Thiem viele Radioaufnahmen bespielt und mehrere Cds herausgegeben, u.a. die Bach Suiten für solo Cello, die vollständigen Werke für Cello und Klavier von Felix Draseke mit dem Pianisten Wolfgang Müller-Steinbach, Werke für Cello und Orgel mit Robert Cavarra und Cello/Kontrabass Duette mit Gary Karr. Sie veröffentlichte Übersetzungen von Gerhard Mantel’s Cellotechnik und Ernst Mendelssohn-Bartholdy’s Von New York bis San Francisco, beide bei Indiana University Press. Ausserdem ist sie Autorin von mehreren Aufsätzen über Körperhaltung und Übetips, die bei renommierten Organisationen wie American String Teachers Association und American Suzuki Journal erschienen.

Barbara Thiem ist gesucht für Vorträge, als Beraterin und Gast bei Organisationen wie Encontre Orquestra de Cordas da UnB in Brasilien, Pan American Cello Festival in Texas, und bei Konferenzen wie Music Teachers National Association, der American Musicological Society und der American String Teachers Association sowie bei Versammlungen und Wettbewerben der Staaten.

Bryan Wallick | Klavier (DE)

Pianist Bryan Wallick macht einen Namen für sich als amerikanischer Virtuose seiner Generation. In 1997 gewann er die Goldmedaille des Vladimir Horowitz International Piano Competition in Kiev und konzertiert häufig in den USA sowie in Europa und Afrika.

Er ist Mitglied des Mendelssohn Trio, das an der Colorado State University stationiert ist und plant mit diesem Ensemble im Mai 2026 eine europäische Tournee in der Schweiz, Österreich und Deutschland. 

In 2015 war er künstlerischer Direktor der Schalk Visser Concert Promotions, die viele internationale Musiker auf Konzerttourneen in Südafrika einlud. Während der Pandemie nahm er eine Trioversion von Beethovens Tripelkonzert op. 56 auf, mit dem Geiger Frank Stadler (Österreich) und dem Cellisten Peter Martens (Südafrika) in einer interkontinentalen Kollaboration über drei Kontinente, wofür sie 2020 den KykNet Fiesta Award bekamen für Beste Leistung in klassischer Musik. In 2006 erhielt er eine Förderung von dem Scottsdale Center for Performing Arts, um seine synästhetische Veranlagung in einem Multimediaprojekt zu erklären, so dass das Publikum die Farben sehen konnte, die er bei seinem Spiel erfährt.
